One Shots: Aging MMO Screenshot Challenge

The great volcano god Kenny is fuming again. He’s easily offended by any jab at his pyroclastic flow or the efficiency of his vent, so the wise thing would be to toss a virgin into the lava. That didn’t happen. Instead, players trekked into his sanctum for a screenshot challenge, and the One Shots gallery this week is the glorious result.

Hikari kicked things off with a Guild Wars 2 Tempest build, braving the heat for a fiery selfie. But the wisdom award goes to Mysecretid, who chose a cooler locale: the Mycelial realm in Star Trek Online. Their captain, inspired by Anson Mount’s Christopher Pike, stands among fungal spores while a holographic Stamets lurks in the background ready with snark. “What a fungi I am,” they quipped.

Hurbster made a case for World of Warcraft Classic, praising how its stylized graphics and clever lighting give it a timeless feel despite primitive polygons. “All the bits complement each other,” they noted, and it’s hard to argue. Then Utakata faced a burning forest in Blade & Soul—and took a selfie mid-inferno. “Medium rare to well-done in two minutes,” as the caption goes. Vincent rounded out the batch with a surreal Final Fantasy XIV image that looks like a dog dipped in acid while watching Predator. No one can explain it, but everyone appreciates it.
